Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about speeds, devices, sport, billing and support — written for Australian households rather than copied from a generic template. If your question is not here, the contact page reaches a technician directly, and the setup guide covers installation end to end.
Speed, streams and the NBN
What internet speed do I need for TVHammer in Australia?
25Mbps handles HD comfortably and covers the majority of Australian households. For consistent 4K UHD we recommend 50Mbps or better.
Because we deliver in H.265, a TVHammer 4K stream needs roughly the bandwidth an older provider requires for 1080p — which is why plenty of subscribers on a 50/20 plan run ultra HD without trouble.
Why does my stream buffer in the evening?
Evening buffering on an Australian line is almost always local congestion between 7pm and 10pm rather than a problem at the stream source. Everyone on your node is watching something at once.
Three things fix it in most cases: step the resolution down one tier, move the device onto a wired connection, or contact us for a buffer profile matched to your specific access type. The setup guide lists recommended settings for FTTP, HFC, FTTC, FTTN and fixed wireless.
Is the electronic programme guide accurate for Australian time zones?
Yes. The seven-day EPG is mapped to AEST and AEDT, with daylight saving handled automatically so Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia all read correctly against your own clock.
Can I use a VPN with the service?
The service works with a VPN if you prefer to run one, though it is not required. Bear in mind that routing through a distant exit node reduces throughput — if you do use one, an Australian endpoint keeps the picture closest to native quality.
Hardware, apps and activation
How many devices can I use on one subscription?
One device per subscription. Each line is bound to a single device so the connection is never divided, which is precisely what keeps the picture stable during a busy Saturday afternoon of sport.
Households that want a second television running independently simply order a second line — see the pricing page for the current rates.
Which app does TVHammer use?
IBO Player, and only IBO Player. Supporting a single application means one tested behaviour across Android boxes, streaming sticks, Windows, macOS, and LG and Samsung televisions — and one clear set of instructions when something needs adjusting.
How long does activation take?
Most Australian orders are activated within fifteen minutes, at any hour. Your email carries the portal URL, username and password, which you enter once through the IBO Player playlist management portal rather than typing on a remote control.
What happens if I change my streaming device?
Send support the new device's MAC address and Device Key and we will move your line across. There is no charge for a device change on an active subscription, and the transfer is usually done the same day.
Channels, sport and on demand
Do you carry AFL, NRL and cricket?
Yes — Australian sport is the backbone of the lineup rather than an afterthought. AFL and AFLW, NRL and NRLW, Test, ODI and Big Bash cricket, the A-Leagues, Super Rugby, Supercars, Super Netball and thoroughbred racing are all carried.
Fixtures are mapped into the guide before each round starts, so a Thursday night bounce shows at the correct local time whether you are watching from Hobart or Darwin. The full breakdown sits on the channels page.
Does TVHammer include catch-up TV?
A rolling multi-day catch-up archive covers the major channels, so a match you missed because of traffic or a late shift can be rewound and watched in full. It is included on every plan, including the A$12.99 intro month, at no additional cost.
Are international and multicultural channels included?
More than sixty regions are carried on the standard lineup — Greek, Italian, Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Filipino, Nepali, Korean, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese and Polish among many others. There is no separate international package to buy.
How large is the on-demand library?
Around 92,000 films and series episodes, refreshed weekly. It sits alongside the live lineup in the same app, so when a channel is between programmes the archive is one click away.
Payments, terms and getting help
Does my subscription renew automatically?
No. Nothing renews on its own and no payment mandate is stored against your name. When your term ends the line simply stops until you choose to extend it — there is no cancellation process to navigate and no retention call.
Can I upgrade to a longer plan partway through?
Yes. Get in touch and we will credit the unused portion of your current term against the longer plan, so nothing you have already paid is wasted. Plenty of subscribers start on the intro month and move to six or twelve months once the picture has proven itself.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Major credit and debit cards over an encrypted checkout, with alternative methods available on request. Everything is charged in Australian dollars, so there are no surprise conversion fees on your statement.
What is your refund position?
If the service cannot be made to work on a supported device and our technicians cannot resolve it, we refund. The full terms, including the window and the conditions, are set out on the refund policy page.
When is support available?
Seven days a week, working Australian hours. Average first response is under nine minutes, and setup questions are answered by technicians who know the local network — not a scripted queue in another time zone.
The intro month answers most questions faster than we can
A$12.99, the complete lineup, nothing renewing behind your back. If it does not suit your household, you simply do not continue.
